Amtrak Adds More Lunch Choices to Flexible Dining Menu
Amtrak has introduced new lunch options to their Flexible dining menu aboard five of their long-distance trains. Sleeping car passengers can now order lighter meal selections for lunch rather than having to choose from the same heavy hot meals at both lunch and dinner.
Plus, some of the new meals are fresh rather than microwaved.

Amtrak’s New Flex Dining Choices
Several of the new choices come from Amtrak’s National Cafe menu and are now available in the Dining Car for sleeping car guests. This gives passengers the option of ordering something quick and simple if a full hot entree does not sound appealing at lunchtime.
Among the new selections is a turkey and cheddar sub served on a multigrain roll. Another option is a ham and Swiss sandwich on a pretzel roll with honey mustard.
Passengers looking for a lighter meal can choose a fresh Greek salad topped with feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette.

Amtrak also added two familiar items that are also available in the cafe car. These include an Angus cheeseburger and a classic all-beef hot dog.

Ordering from the dinner Flex menu is also available, giving passengers the choice of a lighter meal or a hot entrée
Each of the new lunch items is served with a side of chips or a dinner roll.

What Is Amtrak Flex Dining?
Flex Dining is Amtrak’s simplified dining program offered on select long distance trains. Meals are included for passengers traveling in sleeping car accommodations, while coach passengers may purchase meals from the same menu if seating is available in the dining car.
Unlike traditional dining on some Amtrak routes, Flex Dining allows passengers to eat at a time that works best for them. Guests can visit the dining car when they are ready, or ask their sleeping car attendant to deliver the meal directly to their room.
The Flex Dining menu typically includes hot entrees, lighter lunch items, desserts, and beverages. With the addition of the new lunch selections, travelers now have more choices during the day without waiting for the evening dinner service.
Amtrak Trains That Offer Flex Dining
Flex Dining is currently available on five Amtrak long distance routes:

-

-

-
